RCS has a strong network of highly qualified and experienced subject matter specialists in areas of governance, agriculture, food, nutrition and livelihood security, Gender and HIV/AIDS, climate change, disaster preparedness and management and rural development.
With this pool of expertise, Rural Consultants and Suppliers is able to deploy at once many multi-disciplinary teams to carry out multiple research, training and consultancy services in a wide range of fields relevant to the various programmes and projects of Government and Non-governmental Organisations, the Private Sector and Development Partners. Dr William Kasapila
Dr William Kasapila – Team Leader
Dr William Kasapila is a qualified Agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood Consultant, Trainer and Researcher with academic qualifications at postgraduate level and more than 15 years of experience in the field. Over the years, Dr Kasapila has trained and led teams of surveyors in large-scale baseline, mid-term and impact evaluations in which different quantitative and qualitative methodologies have been used. Most recently, he has led I in large-scale evaluations for various organizations in the country. Examples of these evaluations include the final evaluation of the 5-year (January 2018-December 2022) EU 14.6 Euro million funded Better Extension Training Transforming Economic Returns (BETTER) project in 10 districts of Malawi. The other evaluations are the end of term reviews of 1) a six year 5.3 million Australian Dollar funded Integrated Community Development (A+) program in Malawi and Tanzania, 2) the EU funded Pro-Act Resilience program in 7 districts of Malawi by Christian Aid and United Purpose consortia and 3) evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) joint program by WFP, UNICEF and ILO just to mention a few. All of them had components of agriculture, resilience to climate change and variability, food security, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), environmental conservation, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), irrigation farming, backyard gardens and gender, social inclusion and safeguarding as cross cutting issues. Dr Kasapila has strong analytical and team player skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work. He also has good organisational and presentation skills that span sound rigorous research and clear verbal explanation. He has worked not only in Malawi but other countries in Africa as well such as South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Mozambique, Tanzania, Nigeria, Somalia and Rwanda.
Richard Kusseni
Social Research Consultant
Richard is an experienced researcher in social sciences and governance. He over six years in supporting livelihood project designs, baseline studies and evaluation. He has a Masters’ degree in humanitarian studies. Richard has worked in governance and social accountability research studies centering on the role of citizens, civil society and public institutions on development processes. He was part of the Independent Impact Evaluation and Accountability team (IIEA) for the Tilitonse fund for 5 years. He has been conducting assessments on the impact of governance project in Malawi for various institutions including Salima Governance Network (SAGNET), Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) and the UN women among others. Other Key areas include project design, implementation and developing Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks. He has high level competence in Results Based Approaches and developing comprehensive Theories of Change. Richard has reputable recognition in conducting Knowledge, Attitudes and Practice (KAP) studies to inform program effective and efficient program implementation. Over the past eight years, Richard has managed projects and research assignments to maximum effectiveness. He is a competent data analyst in livelihood programs especially in areas of nutrition, agriculture, resilience, education and climate change. Recently, Richard conduct a social accountability assessment for CCJP Lilongwe in Ntchisi and Dowa.
